My first experience with The Marina was a birthday party we hosted for my husband's parents. We lived out of state and I planned the entire party by phone and email. Having never been to The Marina I wasn't sure what to expect. The manager, Will, is exceptional. He presented me with many options for the party and was on hand to make sure that everything went smoothly, even through some changes in our plans. Our sever, Chandler, did a fabulous job. The food all came out at the right temperature and everyone was pleased with their order.
Since then we have moved to Mount Vernon and The Marina is one of the places we visit regularly, especially on a night when they have live music. The view of Lake Cypress Springs is beautiful and calming, the food is great, the employees are friendly and the entertainment is good. Will always takes time out of his evening to stop by and say hello. We enjoy The Marina so much we take out of town guests there whenever possible.
The atmosphere is casual, there is both indoor (with a/c) and outdoor seating and a play area for little kids. This is a very family friendly place.
Oh, and try the fried pickles - you won't be disappointed. They are the best I've had in the area. -

My experience at the Marina: The outdoor space was very nice, they had corn whole and sand volleyball! The service was great but, they brought other people's food to our table multiple times. My grilled cheese was burnt, broiled, and pealing apart ( picture below is the inside of the grilled cheese). The employees were sweet and experienced. My takeaway is don't order the grilled cheese ever!

Had dinner at The Marina at Lake Cypress this evening. Absolutely horrible service as usual. Salad was brown and had the salad core in it and no dressing on it. I asked 3 different people for dressing and asked our waitress 2 different times before she finally brought some. Ordered a pizza, I consider it below average. And we "always" have to ask for cups of ice . The tea is always served with barely any ice in it. Who wants warm tea? And for drink refills you have to constantly ask for refills every time we have dined here. This was the last time. Waste of money and time begging for even the minimum of service.
This place reminds me more of a bad bar. Certainly not a pleasant relaxing evening.
The only plus is that it is on the Lake. -

The Marina is actually a marina on Beautiful Lake Cypress Springs. With a fun, casual atmosphere, the restaurant is also a fantastic place to eat both standard as well as upscale dishes. I've gone to The Marina many times over the past three years but never took time to review it! I've had pizza (fabulous), frozen drinks (yum), burgers and nachos (good!) and have been pleased with the "specials". They are fresh and tasty. If you're in the area it's worth a try.
